While any clarification of Apple's software license (the one found on files
on ftp.apple.com) needs to come from an Apple attorney, let me spell out
the basics for those people who have questions about it.  This is purely my
own opinion and should not be considered binding.

The end-user license basically says that you cannot redistribute this
software once you get it from ftp.apple.com or other source that has a
redistribution license executed with Apple (that is why we can distribute
from ftp.apple.com).  The redistribution license is different than the
end-user license.  If you have an interest in redistribution rights, you
will need to contact our Software Licensing department at
[e-mail] for information.  Note that the
redistribution licenses cost money and not everything is available or
covered by this license.

Back to the end-user license.  It covers ALL Apple software and information

PageMaker 4.2, and may require the following fonts (I

The file should print on any PostScript laser printer. It looks

any PostScript laser printer. It looks best at resolutions of

Our apologies for the massive size of this file when expanded.
We couldn't figure out any way to make it significantly smaller
and still get it to print. At least the file compresses well.

This is the "post" version of CompuCash™, which I wrote.  I decided
that people had a dificult time recognizing the value of it without
actually seeing it (although some did).  This document is most of
the "shareware" version and is shareware, as well.  So here's my
deal:

If you read this and like it, are entertained by it, or you realize
something about the subject matter you did not realize before
(computers, money, etc.), or if you actually do gain by the content
of CompuCash™, please help me out by compensating me for my efforts.  Be
honest - society needs more of honest.

I'm asking $20 for my work, here.  If you think that's too much,
send what you think it is worth.  If you do send the $20, I will
send you the exclusive information I deleted from the shareware
version, which registrants of that version received.

That includes the lists of computer-related (mostly Mac) marketable
product ideas, and service ideas.  They are for things not yet being
done or made.  Things any registrant may implement and cash in on.
This "post version" has some examples, so you can decide if it would
be worth a peek at more, with some illustrations (GIF).

Computer Select is a reference CD, which comes out monthly (I believe),

Several recent postings have asked about the availability of a list of the
system error codes displayed in the dreaded bomb-box or "<application> has
unexpectedly quit" dialog.  The enclosed ErrorCodeDA is a handy magic decoder
ring put together by Bill Steinberg which I've been using for a couple years.
Click the "About..." button at the bottom of the screen for information about
the author and extensive help on how to customize the "DisplayDA" shell for
other applications.  As mentioned in the help, DisplayDA is freeware for
non-commercial applications.

I don't know if this DA is System-7 compatible.  Would also appreciate hearing
of any newer versions of this nifty utility.  (This is my first attempt at
posting; I'd welcome constructive criticism to <[e-mail]>.)

   I just sent you a HyperCard stack called The Scarecrow's File.  I think
I forgot to put a subject line on it.  It's over 700K, you can't miss it.

   It is best used on a color 640x480 screen, but it can be read on a
small B&W sceen.  You wan't see the color, animations, or card titles
though.  This stack works best if you can give HyperCard 2 or 3 megs of
memory.

   A tay line for the index might be:

   "The Scarecrow talks about Macs, software and related topics.  This
   stack has color, sounds, and animation.  Best used with 640x480

        on you Mac, this guide might be for you.

        This resource guide (17 pages) provides you with adequate
        information to make informed decisions when you want to use
        the Japanese language on the Apple Macintosh computer. Topics
        covered in this guide include hardware requirements, available
        software for word processing, communications, and Japanese
        language learning, as well as some tips for troubleshooting.
        These topics take the easy-to-read "Questions & Answers"

        The appendix section has the following: a) TrueType fonts

        I compiled this resource guide for my students at Georgetown,

(I am posting this on behalf of Bill Baldridge.)

VendorDA is a listing of 857 vendors of Macintosh, and Macintosh related
products, along with their Main, Sales, and Technical Support/FAX numbers.
It is intended for everyone, but should be of particular use to those who
make a living supporting Macintosh.

This release adds 33 new listings, and includes 53 changes/updates to
version 1.4.  I've included some of the major players in the PC-clone
business in this release, for those support providers who may need
cross-platform support. If response is good enough, and there are enough
changes to justify it, I will continue issuing updates about every three
months.

With this release I've started including both the color and B&W versions in
the same package. It reduces confusion, and makes it easier on those who
distribute VendorDA (including myself).

If you have a monochrome monitor you should be using v1.41B, because the
color version won't display properly. You can also run the B&W version on
color monitors, if memory and/or storage are at a premium.

System 6 users should use VendorDA as a standard (standalone) application.
For System 7 users, I'd recommend putting VendorDA in the Apple Menu Items
folder for maximum 'handy-ness.' That's where I keep it.

VendorDA is a shareware product. If you use it, and want to see it
continue, then send in the small $10 shareware payment. As an additional
incentive for those who would like just the data used in building VendorDA,
I WILL SEND A TAB-DELIMITED TEXT FILE TO REGISTERED USERS WHO REQUEST THE
DATA WITH THEIR SHAREWARE PAYMENT.

Each file contains a list of Email, BBS, FAX numbers and FTP sites for Macintosh vendors. Depending on your needs, feel free to delete the others: other than formatting they are identical!

My goal with this list is to maintain an accurate and up-to-date list of those companies that are on the internet or an internet-reachable service. I have considered making a list with sales, tech support, and 1-(800) numbers, but since my primary interest is in maintaining a list that is usable to those of us who do NOT live in the U.S.A, and secondarily to promote those forward-thinking companies who currently use electronic services, I will limit myself to those companies making or selling Macintosh hardware or software that maintain a BBS or active Email presence.

We will be adding more Australian vendor information to this list. If anyone out there has any information to be added to the list please let us know.

I have the vendors entered alphabetically, without street addresses or information regarding their products. I have a partial listing of AOL addresses FAX numbers and FTP sites: please send me any appropriate information that you might have!
